These are collector’s editions of The Odyssey & The Iliad designed as coffee table books. The bellybands on both make for a hands-on experience of the narrative. The reader “breaks” the heart on the Odyssey by slipping it off before reading, then joins the two halves at thestory’s completion when Homer reunites with his love, Penelope. This same concept is repeated on the Iliad – the reader “breaks” the crown, representing the overturn of Troy. When finished, the reader then mends the crown as peace is restored as the Achaeans win the war. The red used for The Iliad signifies battle and rage, and the white used on the Odyssey for love and peace.
